May was a very busy month it went in very quickly. It started getting up at 4am on 3rd Of May for International Dawn Chorus Day. It was raining outside so it wasn’t a great spectacle but I could hear a Blackbird and Robin in the distance I enjoyed it before going back to sleep.
Two days later I was getting ready to go Birding at my local patch when I noticed a Collared Dove sitting below the feeders it was great to see. At Cammo Estate it was a lovely peaceful morning with not many people around so I was able to just listen to the birds singing all around me. I have said this before but if you just stand still it’s amazing how close birds can get this happened near the canal when I was greeted by a Great Tit & Robin, other birds I saw that day were Blackbird, Crow, Magpie, Blackcap & Buzzard.

Next day I was watching a lot of Jackdaws in the garden at the feeder and going to my Mum’s plant pot ripping out the straw and flying off with it for their nests. A few weeks later I spotted House Sparrows at the feeder so it was nice seeing birds return to my feeders.

I have just returned from a two week holiday back up to Benbecula & The Uists in The Outer Hebrides. It’s always great coming up seeing family and visiting the hotspo places and beaches in Benbecula, North & South Uist, Eriskay & Berneray. I saw a lot of birds too from Golden Eagles, Sea Eagles, Short Eared Owls, Buzzards, Sanderlings, Redshanks, Oystercatchers, Lapwings, Song Thrush, Blackbirds & Skylarks. Whilst I was on Loch Eynort which is one of my favourite walks I saw a very friendly Chaffinch and I had to visit RSPB’s Balranald Nature Reserve were I saw Eider Ducks & Cormorants it was a great holiday and look forward returning soon.

I can’t believe we are in June now these months of 2026 just fly by I’m looking forward what this month has to offer. I hope you have a great month and happy Birding.
