I can’t believe we are in July already the months just fly in. We have finally managed to get decent weather warm and sunny but it wasn’t like that at the beginning of the month.
Before the glorious sunshine and heatwave arrived we had day to day rain so that meant no Birding trips so my Birding consisted on watching the birds in the garden mainly greedy Jackdaws who every time I fill the feeders they come and empty them in a day. It got to the point that it was very frustrating so I put my squirrel proof feeder up and that has slowly discouraged them but they are clever birds they manage to get some of the food but not a lot. When the Jackdaws aren’t around small birds have managed to come from House Sparrows, Blue & Great Tits and yesterday I saw juvenile Blue Tits.

When the rain finally stopped and the nice weather came I went for a walk in Barnton Woods listening to the Birds singing including a Blackbird and at the end of my walk I stood and watched the House Martins flying around the retirement home across the street because every year they return and choose to nest there.

I had a great weekend in Oban mainly to attend a gig and for Mum’s birthday but managed a day trip to Isle Of Mull so I managed to do some Birding as well. In Oban I had my first sighting of Swifts they were screeching above me and flying all over the place it was amazing to see. In Mull I saw Oystercatcher, Buzzard, House Sparrow, Song Thrush, Chaffinch & Hooded Crow.

I’m going to make the effort to go Birding more this month before I take the month of August off and resume in September for the start of the Autumn season until then have a great month.
