January Blog

First I will like to wish you all a Happy New Year for 2026 I’m looking forward seeing what birds I see and as usual I will write them in my monthly blog.

Ever since I put Frosty The Christmas Feeder Snowman up at the beginning of December my garden birds have really taken a liking to him infact he’s almost been half empty for the first time I’ve had him for a few years, so it’s been great watching the birds feed on him and birds enjoying the scraps on the ground.

It was great to finally get out Birding after weeks of wet weather so my last outing before Christmas was to Cammo Estate Nature Reserve my local patch. Was quiet with people but that was good because more birds were heard and seen. I saw lots of birds ranging from Robin, Nuthatch, Long Tailed Tit, Jay among others.

On the 21st It was National Robin Day and every year I take part in The National Robin Day Birdwatch which I started doing a few years ago. It is very similar to RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch, watch birds for a hour but your main goal is hoping a Robin turns up. The hour flew in and I got a big list of birds from Blue Tit , Great Tit, Coal Tit, Woodpigeon, Magpie, Blackbird, Chaffinch, Greenfinch, Goldfinch & of course The Robin.

I hope you all have a great month and remember to take part in The RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch at the end of the month I will be taking part and will tell you my results in the next blog.
