I really can’t believe I’m writing my last blog of 2024 this year has gone in so fast it’s been a great year and November was a very exciting month.
On my usual walks around the neighbourhood I heard a familiar call and noticed a bird on a tree in the distance after comparing calls it turned out the bird was a Redwing my first one I’ve seen this year so that was exciting and I’m hoping I’ll see one on my neighbours tree soon so I can get a better picture.

I had a lovely morning Birding on my local patch Cammo Estate Nature Reserve it was nice and sunny aswell which made all the difference. Down at the canal I spotted the Heron up on the tree, passers by had no idea it was below them I managed to get a picture and a video then it flew down to the canal for a spot of fishing.

The birds were full force they were everywhere I was seeing Blue & Great Tits, Wren & Crow. When I was watching a Robin a Nuthatch turned up and then I was treated to a Jay. I saw one earlier but Jays are very shy birds you hear them more then you see them I have never managed to get a picture when I’m about to take a picture they fly off. This Jay flew on top of my head and I immediately for the first time managed to get some pictures even a Great Tit photobombed a picture but I was thrilled I managed to get a photo of The Jay it was a great day.

I had a nice walk along the River Almond Walkway to Cramond I spotted The Heron not at usual spot but next to a couple of rocks blending in then down in the Cramond area I saw a female Gooseander too it flew off down stream. At Cramond Beach itself the tide was in so there were no Waders about but did see the usual Mallards & Black Headed Gulls now in their winter plumage.

Closer to home I’ve noticed a lot of Blackbirds on my hedge at the front of the house everytime I see them I keep wondering if The Mistle Thrush from last year has returned, I haven’t seen it yet but I’m hoping it will return soon. This brings me to the end of my blog of 2024 I have a few Birding trips planned before Christmas and I will tell you about that in the new year. Thank you for your support and I will like to wish you a Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year for 2025.
