I started the month of May up in Inverness it wasn’t a Birding trip as I was there for a music festival which was brilliant but on the way home I stopped at RSPB’s Loch Garten Nature Reserve. It was great to be back at the Visitor Centre there were Siskin,Goldfinch, Chaffinch & Woodpigeon at the feeders but the main star was The Osprey on the nest. It was the male only present but it was great to see it also an added bonus I heard a Cuckoo in the distance.

I had a lovely morning at my local patch, it was a lovely sunny day and the birds were singing away but many were not visible but I did see just to name a few Blackbird, Crow, Woodpigeon, Moorhen, Mallard & Robin. I saw a couple of Butterflies too including Admiral & Orange Tip it got me looking forward to The Big Butterfly Count coming in July.

I travelled to North Berwick to visit The Scottish Seabird Centre who were celebrating 25 years. I have been visiting for many years so I had to go and celebrate. On the harbour I saw Common Gulls & Gannets flying up close and in the evening I attended a 25th Birthday Celebration event at The Scottish Seabird Centre among were staff, trustees, volunteers & members. There were drinks, food & birthday cake as well as speeches. The highlight was watching their 25th anniversary film which is now on their YouTube channel it was a great event to be part of.

I’m traveling back to The Outer Hebrides this week for 2 weeks and I can’t wait to see the Hebridean Birdlife & Wildlife again I will tell you about it in the next blog. Have a great month of June.
